If You Love Horses, You Will Love Sierra, Chon-Teh, Faith and Hope! |
|
Sierra |
Sierra is a beautiful black gaited 4 year old mare with wavy main and tail. Sierra was offered for adoption by BLM and was rounded up as a yearling with her mother in 2008 near the CA/NV border of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Sierra was adopted in August 2008 to avoid having her become a “3 strikes horse” and in the hopes of someday allowing her to live as nature intended her to. We have sought sanctuary for her since she was adopted. Sierra is small but very alpha inclined. We have purposely only had her gentled enough for handling. |
Chon-Teh |
Chon-Teh is a beautiful black and white 12 year old mare who was rounded at 2 yrs old in the Three Fingers HMA in Oregon in 2002. Adopted by someone in PA in 2003 and dropped off at the kill pen in PA December 2011. We have no history between 2003-2011. Chon-Teh was neglected, abused and very sick when we rescued her. Her body scars tell her story for her. Chon-Teh is a beautiful and very respectful horse but does not allow contact. She would not come inside the barn and stayed outdoors all winter and would not go in the the run in shelter. She would rather be covered in ice than come near humans. When approached in a small space she would shake violently from head to toe or run away. Now she will come in and out of the barn of her own accord. She trusts us to give her food by hand now, but will not accept other contact. She is very respectful of our space. We are hoping to get her to sanctuary before the summer where she can run free with the herd forever more. |

Faith |
Faith is an 8 yr old jet black mare who was rounded up as a foal (3-5 months old) with her mother in the Rock Creek HMA, NV in 2004 and adopted in S.C. in 2005. We have no further record of her until she showed up at the kill pen in PA in October 2012. Faith and Hope where in the pen together and shared the same stall at the kill brokers barn. They both were rounded up from the same HMA (2 different roundups)and were adopted and sent to 2 different owners in the same State but were never together until they met at the kill pen! |

Hope |
Hope is a 12 yr old bay mare with some white facial markings and was rounded up from Rock Creek HMA, NV in 2002 at 2 years old and adopted in S.C. in 2003. No other information is known about her until she showed up at the kill pen in PA in October 2012. Hope and Faith were together in the pen and shared the same stall in the kill brokers barn. |
