Photo by Karen Parker Martita Martita is Kiger mustang mare gathered from the BLM Herd Management Area in Oregon. She and her daughter, Josefina, were donated to the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary in 2005. She is a shiny red dun with a dorsal stripe and no white markings. Her BLM neck brand and recluse nature denotes her experiences in the wild and the ordeal of being rounded up. Whenever a helicopter flies over the sanctuary, she likes to hide. Shy by nature, she is always away from the band with her daughter. |
